The purpose of the site would be to serve as a multi-purpose assistant that consists of updating news stories, the webstite also would have a built in calender that the user manually fills with reminders. and the user can also choose an amount of time before the date that they will get reminded (1 week, 3 days etc.). There would also be the option for the site to send remiders to any linked devices through the sites app. As the site will be linking to devices, data protection and security would be a priority so as to protect users devices and any information on these devices. The website would allow users to share news stories they are interested in and also filter the typs of stories they see (Entertainment, Politics, Sport etc.), so users don't recieve update on news stories that dont interest them. The site would also include a direct messaging system that uses either text voice or video chat. The users personal profile would list their name, birthday, interest and other details like this. Users could choose which of this information would appear in their profile.
Format/Style -
The format of the site would have the main focus of the page e.g. news feed, message inbox etc. A link to the users profile would be in the top right corner. To the left of the page there would also be a list of the users friends and recommended friends based on their phones contacts depending on if the user has linked their mobile phone.
Target user/membership -
The target user of the site would be people of any gender aged 13+. I chose this target user because a majority of people who use other social media platforms are aged between 13 and 30, However I am aware that a significant number of people older than 30 use things like facebook and twitter. However the average age of a social media platfroms user base varies from platform to paltform. For example 87% of adult aged 18-29 use Facebook and only 37% of adults aged 18-29 use Twitter , and over half of instagrams users are aged between 18 and 29.
